Collecting & Care Of Fine Art
Carl David
Show Description: Carl will discuss how his family's Fine Art Gallery, now in its 4th generation was conceived and how it has evolved since it was established in 1910. They specialize in original 18th-20th century American & European paintings, watercolors, drawings & sculptures. He will disclose the factors (both external & internal) which determine the pricing of Fine Art in the various markets. The art market is layered; private, public & institutional, and although the rules of engagement are somewhat standard, there are differences that come into play within each segment. Carl will talk about the trends in art and how & why they change, and will give examples of pricing so his words are not simply abstract rhetoric but exciting glimpses into the complex labyrinth of the mysterious art world.
This seasoned Art Dealer will cover aspects of restoration and conservation, the necessity and the abuse, as well as works of art that are counterfeit and how one can protect themselves from unscrupulous vendors, etc. Art is a magnificent investment which enhances our environment, yielding dividends in beauty while growing in value with no depreciation or maintenance. It is a vehicle to transport us to a different place, making us feel at ease, giving us the ability to step away from our daily stresses. Carl is the author of "Collecting & Care Of Fine Art" which was published by Crown, NY, 1981 and has more recently written,"Bader Field" Nightengale Press, 2008. www.carledavid.com

Two Spot Gobi's unique and alternative blend of organic pop was born in 2005 in Brighton.
